Few things are as great as a cup of hot tea in winter. The warmth and flavor are enough to make even the gloomiest day a little bit better. And now, there’s an even better reason to put on the kettle…

Because new research shows that enjoying a cup of tea can help you fight Alzheimer’s, too.

Here are all the details…

The hibiscus is a woody plant with bright red, pink, and orange flowers found in tropical regions world-wide. And while the flowers are very beautiful, there’s something even more special about them – they can help you fight Alzheimer’s.

You see, hibiscus flowers contain a compound –gossypetin – that can help clear away beta-amyloid proteins, which can be a root cause of Alzheimer’s.

Cognition Restored

For the study, researchers gave mice with Alzheimer’s disease gossypetin for three months… and the results were astonishing!

At the end of the trial, the hibiscus extract had restored the mice’s memory and cognition to nearly their normal levels. Put another way, gossypetin was able to stop and reverse Alzheimer’s progression.

Even better? The mice also experienced a decrease in the specific types of beta-amyloid proteins that can cause the disease.

Further research determined that gossypetin prevented the expression of genes that create chronic inflammation while increasing the expression of genes that help clear beta-amyloid from the brain.

A One-Two Punch To Alzheimer’s

Study researcher Professor Kyong-Tai Kim says of the discovery, “We have confirmed that removing amyloid-beta aggregates deposited in the brain is effective in preventing and treating dementia. Gossypetin from hibiscus will contribute to the development of a safe and affordable drug for patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.”1

And there’s more good news about hibiscus…

Better Than Blood Pressure Drugs?

Other research shows that this ruby-red flower can also help lower your blood pressure.

One study of 46 adults with high blood pressure showed that drinking just two cups of hibiscus tea daily for one month could help significantly lower blood pressure readings.2

Another study even showed that hibiscus works better than some mainstream blood pressure medications in folks with mild to moderate blood pressure issues.3

This is incredible news for anyone who doesn’t want to develop Alzheimer’s.

You see, having high blood pressure can increase your risk of memory and cognitive issues because it can cause damage to the vessels that supply blood to your brain. So, by lowering your blood pressure, you’re taking care of your heart AND your brain.

The Two Cup Trick for Better Health
